Dealerships using business text messaging must clearly explain how customers consent to messages, how their information is handled, and how they can opt out. Use this checklist when preparing your website for 10DLC registration or review.
Important: This guide summarizes the content requested for Car Wars 10DLC setup. It is not legal advice. Your organization should confirm its final language and practices with its legal or compliance team.
1. Add the required privacy-policy language
Include the following statement in your website's privacy policy:
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
2. Add SMS Terms and Conditions
Include SMS terms wherever customers sign up to receive texts. Replace the bracketed placeholders with your dealership's information:
You agree to receive messages (appointment reminders, automobile information, etc.) from [Company Name]. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. For help, reply HELP or email us at [email address]. You can opt-out at any time by replying STOP.
3. Configure website forms for SMS consent
Contact forms should include a designated phone-number field. When the form is used to collect SMS consent:
- Place a separate consent checkbox below the SMS disclosure.
- Do not pre-check the checkbox.
- Make consent clear and specific to text messages.
- Link to the dealership's Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
Use this disclosure after replacing the bracketed placeholders:
By checking this box, you agree to receive marketing text messages from [Dealer Name] at the number provided. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. See our [Privacy Policy] and [Terms & Conditions].
4. Review before submission
- The dealership name is consistent across the website, privacy policy, terms, and registration.
- The privacy policy includes the required mobile-information statement.
- The SMS terms include message purpose, frequency, rates, HELP instructions, and STOP instructions.
- The webform checkbox is optional and not pre-checked.
- The Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions links work without requiring a login.
- The consent language appears close to the phone field and submission action.
