What is an outbound line?
An outbound line is the Car Wars phone number your calls are placed from when you or your team dial a customer. It controls the number the customer sees on caller ID and allows outbound activity to be associated with the configured line. Calls are recorded only when recording is enabled for your account.
It is different from two other numbers you may already use:
- Individual agent line — a number tied to one salesperson for per-person call tracking and texting.
- Tracking line — a number used to measure where inbound calls come from, such as a specific advertisement or web page.
What caller ID does it show?
When a call is placed through an outbound line, the customer sees the configured Car Wars outbound number rather than the caller's personal cell number. Because it is a business number, some customers or carrier spam filters may not recognize it at first.
Before you request one
- To send text messages from the number, it must also be text-enabled. This is a separate step and may require carrier registration.
- If you are not sure how to add or change an outbound line, contact Car Wars Support.
What to send Support
- Your dealership and Car Wars account or store name.
- Who the line is for: a specific person, a team, or the whole store.
- Whether you also need texting enabled on the line.
- The best callback number to use for testing.
