Before you begin
Gather the following information:
- A clear tracking-line name.
- Whether the new number should be local or toll-free.
- The department that owns the line.
- The phone number that should receive the calls.
- Your CRM sharing, call-categorization, review, and recording requirements.
You must have access to the Tracking Lines pod. If you do not see the creation controls, contact your Car Wars account administrator or Car Wars Support.
Create the tracking line
- Open the Tracking Lines pod.
- Select New Tracking Line.
- Enter a descriptive Tracking Line Name.
- Choose Toll-free or Local.
- Select the appropriate Tracking Line Department.
- Choose Direct Ring-To routing and enter the destination phone number.
- Select Create Line.
The confirmation page displays the new tracking-line number and the number it rings to. Verify both before using the line in advertising or customer communications.
Configure sharing, categorization, and recording
- From the confirmation page, select Manage.
- Confirm the line name, department, routing, and direct ring-to destination.
- Under Third Party Shares, choose the inbound share option for your CRM if calls from this line should share to the CRM.
- Select the required call-categorization and call-review options.
- Choose whether the line should be recorded. If recording is enabled, configure the required recording disclaimer and follow all applicable consent laws and dealership policies.
- Select Save Line.
Test the new line
- Call the new tracking line from an outside phone.
- Confirm it rings the intended destination.
- Confirm the call appears under the correct line and department in Car Wars.
- If CRM sharing is enabled, confirm the test call appears in the intended CRM.
- If recording or review is enabled, confirm the test call follows the selected settings.
If a test fails, recheck the direct ring-to number and the saved sharing, categorization, review, and recording settings. Contact Car Wars Support if the issue continues.
